Health Equity and Access Leadership Statement
The Alabama Chapter–American Academy of Pediatrics (AL-AAP) affirms its commitment to supporting the health and well-being of every child and adolescent in Alabama. Our goal is to ensure that all children and adolescents have access to high-quality healthcare that promotes their optimal growth and development; while recognizing the value each child, adolescent, and family brings to our communities.
We recognize that children, adolescents, and families across Alabama represent a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and circumstances. These differences may include culture, language, faith, ability, family structure, economic situation, and personal identity. Respecting and honoring these differences strengthens our ability to provide compassionate and effective care.
Our Chapter is also enriched by the varied skills and perspectives of our members. We encourage broad participation in leadership and volunteer roles so that the voices and talents of pediatricians across Alabama can contribute to the advancement of our mission.
We are committed to fostering an environment where all members, colleagues, children, adolescents, and families are treated with dignity and respect. By upholding these values, we strengthen our profession, enhance professional fulfillment, and improve the quality of care provided to children, adolescents, and families throughout our state.
