The Alabama Chapter-American Academy of Pediatrics (AL-AAP) is not only the professional home of practicing pediatricians across Alabama, but also the best place for medical students from Alabama institutions to take important first steps in exploring pediatrics as a path for their medical career and developing bonds with fellow pediatricians along their journey.

  • Scholarship opportunity to attend the Chapter’s annual Spring Meeting - The AL-AAP sends the application to member medical students as well as program advisors and selects recipients based on available sponsorships and the content of the applications

  • Advocacy Sessions.  Chapter leaders can provide education to medical students on advocacy and AAP involvement

  • Advocacy Opportunities

    • Annual Legislative Day each Spring in Montgomery at Alabama State House

2026 Medical Student/Resident Poster Session 

The leadership of the Alabama Chapter-American Academy of Pediatrics is pleased to announce its second annual Medical Student/Resident Poster Session, to be held at the 2026 Annual Meeting & Fall Pediatric update’s reception on Saturday evening, September 12, 2026, at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Resort in Hoover (Birmingham).  Entries will be accepted from medical students and pediatric residents in Alabama.  At the reception, participants will have the audience of all pediatricians & guests attending the Saturday evening dinner!  Details coming soon!.
